The author Kevin Turnbaugh was born on August 10, 1954 in Bad Axe, Michigan to the late Reverend Ray and the late Edna Turnbaugh. His family moved to Dodge City, Kansas, then onto Colorado Springs, Colorado before moving to Texas. There they lived in Killeen, Abilene, and finally in San Antonio. The author spent 13 of his first 16 years in Texas, and except for 1 year of elementary school in Colorado, and his final 2 years of high school in Pennsylvania, all of his schooling was in San Antonio, Texas.
During his Junior and Senior High School years, Kevin was an accomplished Trombone player, and won 4 gold medals in solo competitions while in Texas. He was a member of the “High Stepping Eagle Band” of Brackenridge High School in San Antonio. In 1970, upon the completion of his sophomore year at Brackenridge, Kevin and his parents moved to Hanover, Pennsylvania. This move was not favored at all by Kevin, being forced to move away from his friends he had known for quite some time, and a few of them being very special to Kevin. After about 6 months in Hanover, Kevin finally started to accept the move, but would have welcomed a way back to San Antonio at any time.
Upon his graduation from Hanover High School in 1972, Kevin worked part-time in a grocery store and full-time at a meat packing house in Maryland. Later, his work experience would bring him into the shoe sales, and even later, shoe manufacturing world for over 13 years. It was during this time that Kevin learned that he was going blind from the eye disease Retinitis Pigmentosa (commonly referred to as RP), and in 1987 it was determined that his vision had deteriorated to a point that he had to be laid off from the shoe factory.
After a long 9 month period of seeking a new job, and dealing with failing eye sight, Kevin finally was able to obtain a job with the U.S. Army as a Supply Clerk at the New Cumberland Army Depot (NCAD), today called the Defense Distribution Depot Susquehanna, Pennsylvania (DDSP). Kevin worked for an Army Command called the U.S. Army Security Assistance Command (USASAC) as a Logistics management Specialist. He retired from this position in 2015.
The author accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior during a camp in Texas during the summer of 1966. On June 18, 1983, Kevin was married to the former Lori Kay Reichart in Hanover, Pennsylvania. Their interests are their dogs and cats, walking, visiting historical locations, and taking cruises. Lori volunteers at their church with the physically and emotionally challenged children, and Kevin will substitute teach in the Sunday School from time to time.
The author is a past-president of the Hanover Industrial Management Club (HIMC), today called the Hanover Area management Association (HAMA). He has been honored by the Commanding General of USASAC on several occasions for distinguished service, and has received letters of acknowledgement for outstanding service from other areas within the Army Materiel Command (AMC). He and Lori are also both active members of the New Oxford Lions Club.
The author is available for speaking engagements, addressing any of the issues found within his books, and especially on those issues threatening Christians today with our freedoms of expression, speech, and assembly. If a speaking engagement is desired, you can contact him at:
